Parliament Week 2017

This year the Government Art Collection is taking part in Parliament Week (13-17 November 2017), which aims to increase awareness of Parliament and its work. You are invited to enjoy two guided tours and a screening of The Secret Art of Government, a BBC documentary filmed in 1998 focusing on the unique stories behind the Collection.

GAC staff will lead two tours, exploring how art is used in ministerial offices, from the purpose of art in Government buildings, to the selection of works and their installation. You will view works of art currently at the main GAC building and discover in which Government buildings they have been displayed. There will also be an opportunity to go behind the scenes at the Collection. The film screening will be followed by a mini-tour and a discussion about how the GAC has evolved and developed since 1998.

Book onto one of our Parliament Week tours via our externally hosted booking service.

The two guided tours will take place on Monday 13 November at 12:30 am and 6:00 pm and will last one hour each. The film screening and the mini-tour will take place on Friday 17 November at 6:00 pm and will last one and a half hours. All events are free and are aimed at those over 16 years old. Unfortunately, the GAC premises are not suitable for wheelchair users.
